Dana launches SpicerElectrified electric drive solution at 2018BaumaChina

 On November 27th, Dana Co., Ltd. (NYSE: DAN) announced the launch of the Spicer® ElectrifiedTM electric drive solution with the TM4®eSH81e-Hub drive system, a fully integrated electromechanical system Dana's leading vehicle electrification technology portfolio for heavy mining and construction applications.

Designed for underground mining vehicles, large wheel loaders and stackers, the e-Hub drive system features proven heavy-duty Spicer axle expertise, Brevini® planetary drive design, TM4 motor technology and advanced control from Dana Expertise is integrated into a system to improve vehicle efficiency, reliability and performance.

The e-Hub drive system is currently undergoing pre-production field testing with vehicle manufacturers and is scheduled to go into production by the end of next year.

“The ultimate metric for hybrid and electrical technology is to meet the site's stringent performance requirements for off-highway vehicles,” said Christophe Dominiak, CTO's Chief Technology Officer. “This e-Hub drive system explains the speed and efficiency of Dana's R&D. Global innovation, local market expertise

Located in Wuxi, Jiangsu, Dana China Technology Center is a global center of excellence designed for use in mining and other heavy-duty applications. It is ideal for leading the development of e-Hub drive systems. The center also leads the development of the heavy-duty Spicer planetary steering axle, which can be used for off-road cranes with a lifting capacity of 30-110 metric tons (33-120 tons).

Dana's engineering resources in the US, Italy and Canada are also involved in the joint development of the SpicerElectrifiedeSH81e-Hub transmission system.
