Many people have discovered a problem. Although the home appliances in the past had a single function, their service life was very long. Just like the fan in the 1980s, the base is made of cast iron, and the blades are made of aluminum. Although it is a bit noisy when rotating, it can be used for 20 or 30 years without any problem. Even if the speed control button is broken, you can directly replace it yourself. But the current fan is broken after a few years, why is this?
Past Fans vs Modern Fans

The fan motors in the 1980s were wound with copper core enameled wire, the iron core was made of silicon steel sheet, and the bearings were of high quality. However, the current electric fan motors are wound with enameled aluminum core wires, and the iron core is no longer silicon steel sheet, so the bearing quality is low, and it is easy to break down after a few months or one or two years, or even be scrapped directly. Of course, this is only for electric fans that cost tens of dollars, or non-branded ones. If there is a need for home use, it is recommended to choose a higher-quality electric fan.
Ball bearings are rolling and have less resistance, while oil-impregnated bushings are friction and have greater resistance. Under normal circumstances, the motor on the air conditioner is a ball bearing, and basically does not need to be refueled for two years. Some bearing bushes have no way to install ball bearings, because they are round as a whole, and there is no way to use ball bearings on the crankshaft. However, there are ball bearings on both sides of the crankshaft, which is not directly related to the load, but depends on the quality. The VCR movement is so small that it uses ball bearings the size of corn kernels. Some brushless DC motor cooling fans use almost all ball bearings, and the common ones are bushings, but the former is more durable than the latter.
The old brands in the early years, such as Bat and Watson, had metal fan casings and fan blades. In order to save costs, businesses now use plastic materials, which will age after a few years of use.
Like the products created or maintained in the past, many families will use them for a lifetime, but they are basically invisible now. In the past, the emphasis was on durability, but now merchants pay more attention to updates. Nowadays, the manufacturing concept has also changed. Oil bearings are pressed with copper powder, and some small pores are added sewing machine oil, which directly blocks the pores. The ones produced in the early years have small holes for oil injection and can be used for a long time. There are also some products such as aluminum wires and iron bearings. Good ones can be used for several years, but those with poor quality may be scrapped directly in summer.

Factors that cause the fan motor to be undurable
In addition, sort out some factors that some fan motors are not durable. For example, the power margin is small and the power is insufficient. Or the heat dissipation effect is good. The motors of the old fans are almost all aluminum casings. Another example is that the copper wire is too thick and has a large number of bundles. The more direct factor is that the merchants in the past were willing to use good materials. Many fans that have been repaired before will find that the motor casing is almost a die-cast motor, the one with a thick pure copper wire motor, but it is too rare to see these now. Because modern businesses pay attention to saving costs, to put it bluntly, they cut corners and materials.
Today, the market competition is fierce, and major home appliance brands are trying every means to compete for consumer groups. In order to achieve long-term and stable development, businesses have to reduce costs to expand profit margins. The result is that consumers are being taken advantage of. Here, it is suggested that when buying home appliances, you must pursue well-known brands of any type, whether it is quality or after-sales service, at least they are guaranteed. If it is a miscellaneous brand, the quality is not guaranteed, and it is easy to cause safety accidents, because many of them do not meet the safety and quality standards. The principle of "you get what you pay for" has never changed. There are products with high cost performance, but the quality of the cheap ones is definitely not ideal.
