An electric toothbrush is a toothbrush that allows for fast and automatic brush movement, whether reciprocating or rotating on the back (where the brush head is alternately rotated clockwise and counterclockwise), to clean the teeth. At or below the speed of sound, movement is performed by an electric motor. For ultrasonic toothbrushes, ultrasonic motion is generated by piezocrystals. When the toothbrush is located in a charging seat between the two uses, modern electric toothbrushes are usually powered by a rechargeable battery, which is charged by inductive charging.
Based on the movement frequency (speed) of electric toothbrushes, electric toothbrushes can be divided into electric, acoustic or ultrasonic toothbrushes, depending on whether their movement frequency is below or above the auditory range (2020,000 Hz or 24002,400,000) minutes. The brushes can be classified according to their type of action:
Left and right vibration, with a brush head action that moves laterally from side to side.
The reverse swing represents the bristles action, with adjacent brush bundles (typically 6 to 10) rotating in one direction and then independently in the other direction. Each cluster is rotated in the opposite direction to its neighboring cluster.
Rotational oscillation indicates a brush action in which the brush head is rotated in one direction and then in the other direction.
Circle, indicating the brush head action, where the brush head rotates in only one direction.
Ultrasonic wave indicates the brush movement in which the mane vibrates at an ultrasonic frequency (> 20 kHz).
Ionic indicates a brush designed to apply a charge to the surface of the tooth intended to disrupt the attachment of dental plaque.
For some vibrating toothbrush designs, a brushing technique similar to a manual toothbrush is recommended, while for a toothbrush with a rotating head, the recommended cleaning technique is simply to slowly move the toothbrush from the teeth to the teeth.
