What are the benefits of brushless motors? What is the difference between a brushed motor and a brushless motor?

Recently, many people will ask about brushed motors and brushless motors. What are the differences between brushed motors and brushless motors? Next, Chaojun Transmission will summarize for you.

First, the principle is different

1. The principle of the brushed motor: the brushed motor adopts mechanical equipment for commutation, the magnetic pole does not move, and the coil rotates. When the motor is working, the coil and the commutator rotate, the magnetic steel and the carbon brush do not rotate, and the alternating change of the current direction of the coil is completed by the commutator and brushes rotated by the motor.

2. Principle of brushless motor: The brushless motor adopts electronic commutation, the coil does not move, and the magnetic pole rotates. The brushless motor uses a set of electronic equipment to sense the position of the permanent magnet magnetic pole according to the Hall element. According to this perception, the electronic circuit switches the direction of the current in the coil in time to ensure the correct direction of the magnetic force to drive the motor. Eliminates the disadvantages of brushed motors. The brushless motor controller can also achieve some unattainable functions, such as adjusting the power switching angle, braking the motor, reversing the motor, locking the motor, using the braking signal to stop the motor power supply, etc.

Second, the difference in speed regulation

In fact, the control of the two motors is pressure regulation, but because the brushless DC adopts electronic commutation, it can achieve digital control, the brush is directly based on the direction of the carbon brush, and the traditional analog circuit control is relatively simple.

1. The brushed motor speed regulation process is to adjust the voltage of the power supply. The adjusted voltage and current are converted according to the commutator and brush to change the intensity of the magnetic field generated by the electrodes to achieve the purpose of changing the speed. This process is called variable speed regulation.

2. The speed regulation process of the brushless motor is that the power supply voltage of the motor remains unchanged, the control signal of the ESC is changed, and the switching rate of the high-power MOS tube is changed according to the microprocessor to achieve the change of the speed. This process is called frequency conversion. speed.

3. Advantages of brushless motors

The direct change of the brushless motor is that there is no electric spark generated when the brushed motor operates, which will greatly reduce the interference of the electric spark to the remote control radio mechanical equipment.

The brushless motor has no brushes, the friction force is greatly reduced during operation, the operation is smooth, and the noise will be much lower. This feature is a huge support for the reliability of the model's operation.

Without brushes, wear in brushless motors is mostly on the bearings. From the point of view of mechanical equipment, the brushless motor is almost a maintenance-free motor. Just do some dusting and maintenance when necessary.
