The winding wire is a conductive metal with an insulating layer for winding a coil or a winding of an electric product. Its function is to generate a magnetic field by a current, or to cut a magnetic line to generate a current, thereby realizing mutual conversion between electric energy and magnetic energy, so it is also called electromagnetic line.

The conductive wire core of the winding wire has a round wire, a flat wire, a belt, a foil, and the like. Copper wire, aluminum wire or other metal wire is usually used as the conductive core.

In addition to natural materials, the insulating layer of the winding wire mainly uses organic synthetic polymer compounds (such as acetal, polyester, polyurethane, polyester imide resin, etc.) and inorganic materials (such as glass wool, aluminum oxide film, ceramics, etc.). Since the insulation layer composed of a single material has certain limitations in performance, some winding wires are composite insulation or combined insulation.

According to the characteristics and use of the insulation layer, the winding wires can be divided into four categories: enameled wire, wrapped wire, inorganic insulated winding wire and special winding wire.

Enameled wire

The insulating layer of the enameled wire is a paint film, which is dried by coating an insulating varnish on the conductive core. Its characteristic is that the paint film is thin, uniform and smooth, which is beneficial to the high-speed winding of the coil, and is widely used in small and medium-sized motors, electrical appliances and miniature electrical and electronic products. Enameled wire can be divided into the following according to its long-term use temperature and use characteristics:

● Ordinary enameled wire includes enameled wire with long-term use temperature of 155 ° C and below, such as: polyester, acetal, polyurethane, epoxy and oily enamelled round (flat) wire.

●The high temperature enameled wire includes polyimide, polyesterimide, polyesterimide/polyamide, polyesterimide/polyamideimide enamelled round (flat) wire with long-term use temperature of 180 °C and above.

●Special enameled wire includes self-adhesive solderable polyurethane enameled wire, thermal bonded or solvent-bonded polyester enameled wire, and non-magnetic polyurethane enameled wire and anti-freeze enameled wire.

Wrapped wire

The insulating wire is formed by tightly wrapping the natural wire, the glass fiber, the insulating paper, and the synthetic resin film on the conductive core; and there is also a combined insulation in which the insulating layer is wound around the enamel wire. If wrapped with glass wool, it must be impregnated with a bonding insulating varnish and form a combined insulation. In addition to a few natural silk wrapped, the general wrapped wire is characterized by: the insulating layer is thicker than the enameled wire and is a combined insulation. Therefore, it can withstand excessive voltage and overload load, and is generally used in large and medium-sized electrical products. The film wrap wire has higher insulation and mechanical strength and is used in large and medium-sized motors and high-voltage motors.

Inorganic insulated winding wire

The insulating layer of the inorganic insulated winding wire is composed of an inorganic material such as a ceramic, an aluminum oxide film or the like. It is characterized by high temperature resistance and radiation resistance, and is mainly used in high temperature and radiation applications.

Special winding wire

Special winding wires are suitable for special occasions and have special insulation structure and performance. Such as water resistant multi-layer insulation structure submersible motor winding wire, transposition wire and high frequency (intermediate frequency) winding wire and so on.
