Robot Joint Module.

Collaborative robots will become the mainstream robots for future development, and they will meet the main customers of the emerging markets of robots - SMEs. When people work with collaborative robots, safety is one of the primary considerations. Safety means small kinetic energy. In order to reduce the kinetic energy of robot movement, cooperative robots are lighter and simpler in structure.

In a small robotic arm, it is usually necessary to use a frameless direct drive motor to reduce the size of the robot joint, reduce the weight of the robot, and improve its efficiency. The use of direct drive motors also brings a new problem, which is higher technical implementation difficulty and application integration costs.

This aspect is due to the complicated operation and use process of the frameless motor itself. On the other hand, in the process of designing and manufacturing the robot, it is necessary to provide torque motor, encoder feedback, brake holding brake and harmonic reducer... The fragmented control drive assembly is integrated into the tight space of the robot joint, which is extremely limited in size, while ensuring fast, flexible and reliable motion of the arm. The resulting long development cycle and high manufacturing cost have hindered the widespread application and popularization of small joint robots to some extent.

This leads to a product that will be introduced to you next--the robot joint module.

The robotic joint module, called RGM, is a new product released by Kollmorgen last year and was first shown at the CIROS China Robot Show.

The RGM is only one fist in size. Viewed from the side, the frame is T-shaped. Below is the flange base of the module, which is used to mount it on the end of the upper arm, the motor cover on the left, and the motor shaft output on the right, connected to the next stage of the arm.

This RGM integrates multiple robotic joint core components including servo drives, frameless direct drive motors, harmonic reducers, feedback encoders and brake holdings... in a modular assembly It is designed and packaged into a 90° corner profile suitable for robot joints and can be used directly as a complete joint assembly on the robotic arm of an industrial robot.
