How to solve the matching problem by motor selection?
In the process of minimizing the mismatch between load inertia and motor inertia, there are usually two options for the selection of the motor:
(1) Select low inertia motor
The choice of low inertia motor will help to reduce the total system inertia, so that the system can obtain higher acceleration and larger frequency bandwidth; while maximizing acceleration performance, the shifting mechanism can be used to load inertia and motor inertia. The degree of mismatch is minimized. However, in order to match the load inertia with the motor inertia, the cost of adopting the optimum speed ratio scheme is high, and sometimes it may not be possible.
(2) Selecting a large inertia motor
In the case where a low inertia motor solution is not possible, it is sometimes the best choice to use a large inertia motor with a flywheel on the shaft with the same torque level, which can be used between the highest dynamic performance and stability of the servo drive system. Provide a reasonable compromise.
Based on the above principles, designers can work with the accessory (outsourced) suppliers to make reasonable decisions based on a comprehensive analysis of the feasibility, system performance and manufacturing costs of the various options available.
