Direct Drive Rotary Motor And Control Advantages

Direct drive rotary motor and control advantages

Closed and open frame direct drive rotary motors have replaced traditional, mechanically driven servo motor systems in a variety of applications. Nowadays, a new type of direct drive rotation (ddr) technology called cartridge ddr combines the advantages of open frame direct drive motors with the advantages of full frame motor installation. It is much lower than traditional direct drive technology.

Traditional motor/drive system

Most servo applications today use a traditional servo motor system with mechanical transmission. The initial cost of traditional systems is attractive, and performance has been proven in a variety of applications including: electronics assembly, packaging, aerospace and defense. However, people often fail to pay attention to the additional cost of designing and integrating such systems for additional mechanical components such as pulleys, gearboxes and belts that need to be added. These components continue to wear throughout the life of the machine, which also increases the total life cost.

Positioning errors and tuning difficulties are common problems in these systems, which are caused by the flexibility and ineffective clearance of the drive. The maintenance of belts, pulleys and gearboxes, as well as the replacement of these wearable parts, are costly: first, the user has to inventory more parts; secondly, the system failure caused by these additional parts increases the system's unplanned Downtime caused the machine's output to drop.

Direct drive rotary motor

A rotary electric machine that can directly generate a drive is essentially a permanent magnet motor with a large torque, which is directly connected to the load. This design eliminates all mechanical transmission components such as gearboxes, belts, pulleys and couplings. Direct drive rotation systems bring many benefits to designers and users.

Because a mechanical transmission requires regular maintenance and frequently causes unplanned downtime, direct drive rotary motor technology radically improves machine reliability and reduces maintenance time and overhead. By eliminating the flexibility of the mechanical drive, the direct drive design eliminates the hassle of inertial matching of the motor and load, while positioning and speed accuracy can be increased by a factor of 50. Direct drive motors also offer another benefit: reduced auditory noise by up to 20db.

The ddr motor is an ideal solution for semiconductor process equipment because the motor is directly connected to the driven load, eliminating the belts, pulleys and gearboxes that are typically required in conventional servo motor systems. The reduction in the number of parts also reduces the overall size of the machine, allowing production managers to place more, high value-added process equipment in a single process compartment. The elimination of mechanical transmission components results in a maintenance-free system that is quieter.
