Emerson's Rosemount Pointer Wireless Pressure Transmitter (WPG) uses advanced pressure measurement technology to provide significant advantages over traditional Bourdon tubes and other similar devices to better meet your operational needs.
First, Rosemount pointer wireless pressure transmitters typically improve personnel safety by keeping process fluids in the pipeline. In solid state sensor devices, multiple isolation barriers are standard, including isolation diaphragms, sensor assemblies, and optional seals. Conventional Bourdon tube pressure gauges rely solely on pipes and possible seals for process isolation, which means that the meter pointer display looks normal from the outside, but in reality, the inner tube may be damaged or broken. If the process fluid leaks, there is a risk of personnel safety.
Rosemount pointer pressure transmitters are also highly regarded for their high overpressure resistance because they can withstand up to 150 times the range while maintaining structural integrity under various process pressure fluctuations. Unlike Bourdon tubes that deform under overpressure, the accuracy of solid state pressure sensors does not decrease under overpressure conditions. Unlike Bourdon tube bursts under overpressure causing catastrophic personnel, property and environmental damage, solid state pressure sensors can withstand pressures up to 11,000 psi (758 bar). If the isolation diaphragm is damaged, the process is still included in the sensor assembly.
The Rosemount Pointer Pressure Transmitter also provides a local indication of the health of the equipment and access to events and process status on the indicator.
