The unparalleled application space of the disc type magnetic disc stepper motor is unmatched by other stepper motors. The special magnetization method allows the use of a large number of magnetic poles, which is much smaller than the step angle of a conventional two-pole permanent magnet stepper motor.
Such a rotor design has an extremely low moment of inertia that produces outstanding acceleration and dynamics. These characteristics, as well as peak speed, mean that any incremental motion is completed in the shortest possible time. Low inertia also means high frequency start/stop, saving time in the first step and solving some drive problems without applying a ramp. Those motors designed specifically for microstepping have a sinusoidal torque function, very low harmonic distortion and a small braking torque characteristic. Excellent static and dynamic accuracy for any position and under any load or speed conditions.
