The groundbreaking ceremony for the fourth generating unit of Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant was held in Lianyungang
Asian Fluid Network on September 30, the reporter learned from the relevant departments that the foundation laying ceremony of the fourth generating unit of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant (TNPP) Phase II project was held on September 27 in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province.
Russian National Atomic Energy Corporation representative ViktorGodin in China, joint venture company NIAEP–JSCAtomstroyexport President ValerijLimarenko, and senior vice president and engineering design director Jurij Ivanov participated in the event. China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) and Jiangsu Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (JNPC) also attended the groundbreaking ceremony as Chinese representatives.
Limarenko said: "Thanks to the close cooperation between experts from China and Russia, the second phase construction project of Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant is carried out as efficiently as possible. This is one of the most efficient nuclear power plants among many nuclear power plants in China." In addition, Limarenko also stressed that Russia and China are negotiating the construction of the fast-word reactor nuclear power plant and expressed the hope to continue cooperation in the third phase of the Tianwan nuclear power plant.
Previously, Rosatime head Sergej Kiriyenko had revealed that the Tianwan NPP-2 project is expected to be launched before 2017.
At the beginning of September, at the 17th meeting of the Russian-Chinese Nuclear Issue Sub-Committee, Rosatom and the China Atomic Energy Administration discussed the possibility of cooperation in the construction of four other generator sets (N5-8) at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant. The two sides also considered the possibility of carrying out other nuclear power plant projects in China, including the WMWC reactor nuclear power plant, the BN-800 fast neutron reactor dual-unit nuclear power plant, and the offshore nuclear power plant.
The general contract for the second phase of the TNPP-2 project was officially effective on August 19, 2011. The project is based on NPP-2006/WWER-1000/technology. Key principles include maximizing the use of reliable technology, reducing costs, reducing build time, and combining active and passive safety systems to reduce the impact of human factors on safety.
The Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant is located on the Yellow Sea coast of Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, with a population of nearly 4.5 million. This is the largest economic cooperation project between China and Russia. In 2007, the first and second units of the WWER-100 reactor of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant were delivered to the customer of Jiangsu Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (JNPC) for trial operation with a power of 1,060 MW, while providing maintenance services and commercial operation in September 2009. .
