The China 6v dc motor manufacturers tells you the braking conditions of the DC motor.

DC motors include stator, rotor core, motor shaft, motor winding changer, motor winding, speed measuring motor winding, speed measuring motor changer, etc.. The technical characteristics of DC motors are very comprehensive. Among them, the rotor core is fixed by the superposition pressure of the Silicon steel punch piece on the motor shaft.

The DC motor has low cost, simple structure, large start-up torque, wide speed range, easy control, and needs to be maintained. However, convenient maintenance(carbon brush) will produce electromagnetic interference and have requirements for the environment. It can therefore be used in cost-sensitive common industrial and civilian settings. Some of the DC motors have small size, light weight, large output, fast response, high speed, small inertia, smooth rotation, and stable torque. It is easy to realize intellectualization, and its electronic phase change method is flexible, and it can change the phase of square wave or sine wave. The non-maintenance of the motor does not exist in the case of carbon brush loss, high efficiency, low operating temperature, low noise, small electromagnetic radiation, long life, can be used in various environments.

There are two conditions that make the motor move in the braking state:

When the DC motor is in a decelerating state: The speed drop of the motor is the result of the decrease of the armature voltage. However, when the voltage suddenly changes, the inertia of the motor can not mutate its speed, and the reverse potential can not mutate, causing the current to flow in reverse and generate braking torque.

2, DC motor has a vertical load and the load moves downward: when the motor must produce a brake torque in the opposite direction of motion to balance the weight of the weight caused by the weight.

In the braking state, the kinetic energy generated during the rotation of the motor and the potential energy generated when the weight falls are converted into a current and returned to the power supply. This braking method is often referred to as regenerative braking.
