When the 3D printer prints halfway, the motor is out of step. What should I do? Print out of step! ! There was no problem when I started printing, and the print was good. But if you are lazy and don't care about the machine, the machine will be lazy and show it to you. (In fact, even if you look at it, you will lose the pace, and you will be helpless.) Among the thousands of instructions in G-code, as long as one of the instructions causes the motor to lose synchronization, the whole work is destroyed.

The reason for the loss of step is actually very simple, that is, the power required for the work is too great, and the motor is not strong enough. Therefore, to solve the direction of the loss of step, it is nothing more than strengthening the power of the motor (difficult), and the other is to reduce the burden on the motor.

The way to increase the power of the motor is to change the larger motor or increase the current supplied to the motor. For a bigger motor, you have to spend a lot of money to buy it again, and it’s not enough to buy it. In the specification of the 42-stepping motor, how long does it take to lengthen? How much does the current need to buy? It must rely on complicated and careful calculations for reference.

Another possibility is probably to increase the supply current. Everyone buys a motor, the rated current (current limit) is about 1.5~1.7A, but the current supply setting on the 4988 driver board generally does not exceed 1A. Therefore, the current can be further improved, but the 4988 driver board should be purchased separately, or the Rs resistor should be replaced. After the current is increased, it is also necessary to face the trouble that the 4988 heat dissipation will burn out.

The above is a method to increase the power of the motor, except that the current of the 4988 driver board is increased to nearly 1A, and other methods are not feasible. On the other hand, if you want to try to reduce the load on the motor, you can try a lot more.
