Part3 inverter and motor drive
Partial load efficiency of the system
IEC61800-9 defines some specifications for the partial load efficiency of frequency converters and motor drive systems, and manufacturers need to follow and publish relevant information. Based on this information, the user can determine the efficiency of the drive or motor drive system at any operating point. This information can be used later to determine the energy efficiency index.
01. Eight defined operating points of the inverter
The figure shows how interpolation can be used to determine efficiency/loss at any point of load. The DanfossEcoSmart tool helps users determine the efficiency at part load conditions and can also be used to find partial load efficiencies at standardization points for all VLT® or VACON® drives in existing product families.
02. Motor drive system, also has eight defined operating points
It can be seen that there is a slight difference compared to the operating point of the frequency converter: for the motor drive system, the two points on the right are defined at 100% speed and 50%/100% load. For the drive, the two points on the right are at 90% stator frequency and 50/100% load.
Xiao Dan has something to say: The new IEC61800-9 standard will raise the focus on energy efficiency of inverters and motor drive systems at the international level. Because it not only defines the energy efficiency rating of the drive and motor drive system, but also defines a standardized partial load operating point, so that manufacturers need to announce the efficiency of their products.
Danfoss has continued its tradition of addressing energy efficiency and sees the new standard as an opportunity to increase its focus on this topic. Our support tool, DanfossEcoSmart, allows the user to determine the IE rating of the drive, the IES rating of the motor drive system, and the partial load efficiency of the drive.
Today, energy and energy efficiency are so concerned, we use our own calculation methods to let users easily get the energy efficiency level of the inverter and motor drive system. It is also a good show in the energy efficiency world!
