Brushless DC hydromagnetic motors (BLDCM) and self-controlled permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), in addition to linear mechanical properties, also have different characteristics and different application areas.

●Characteristics and application fields of brushless DC permanent magnet motor (BLDCM)

1) Insufficient use of armature windings;

2) It is desirable that the magnetic pole of the rotor permanent magnet can generate a magnetic field close to a rectangular wave or a trapezoidal wave in the working air gap:

3) A Hall device is usually used as the rotor position sensor of the motor;

4) The control circuit is relatively simple;

5) The torque ripple is relatively large;

6) The control accuracy is relatively low;

7) The price is cheaper.

Brushless DC Permanent Magnet Motors (BLDCM) are suitable for single speed and stable speed operation below 300W, such as computer floppy disk drive (FDD), hard disk drive (HDD), audio-visual equipment spindle (SPINDLE) drive, Laser printers, electric bicycles, automobile motors, forklifts, lifting mechanisms, electric sewing machines, fans, pumps, etc.

●Characteristics and application fields of self-controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM)

1) The armature winding is well utilized;

2) It is desirable that the magnetic pole of the rotor permanent magnet can generate a magnetic field close to a sinusoidal waveform in the working air gap;

3) A contactless resolver is usually used as the rotor position sensor of the motor;

4) The control circuit is more complicated;

5) The torque ripple is small;

6) High control precision and good dynamic performance;

7) The price is more expensive.

The self-controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is suitable for precision servo control systems with power levels above 500W, such as CNC machine tools, textile machinery, paper machinery, precision positioning systems, robots, etc.
