4. Geared motors for operation under severe conditions
The port has three large grab-type ship unloaders (2500t/h) for 300,000-ton berths. The three mechanical devices have a total of 72 three-stage bevel gear reduction motors supplied by Nord. It also has two large mobile shiploaders (5000t/h), each with 16 three-stage bevel gear motor and one second-stage spiral bevel gear motor. These drives move large objects along the berth track to the desired location and are placed in each operating area. In addition, three bucket wheel stacker reclaimers (500t/h) installed in the port ore storage yard are also equipped with 72 three-stage bevel gear reduction motors. All geared motors used in WISCO Port are equipped with heavy-duty housings for outdoor and harsh weather conditions, and their good sealing prevents moisture from entering. At the same time, geared motors are equipped with anti-corrosion and moisture-proof components, which are ready to meet the challenges of a typical marine environment. Special paint coatings also effectively reduce the corrosion of salty air. The construction of the geared motor is also very strong enough to withstand strong mechanical vibrations. Most units are also equipped with special application options, such as dust and corrosion resistant brakes, microswitches for continuous brake monitoring, or double awnings for motor fan splash guards. These all make the geared motor run more reliably.
5, designed to successfully move heavy loads
All geared motors are manufactured in one factory – this is Nord's original development philosophy. This design guarantees optimum axial and radial forces as well as high efficiency, high output torque, low noise operation and minimal maintenance over a long service life. Nord has a wide range of gear ratios for solutions for cranes and trolleys. The manufacturer offers two or three stages of design with hollow or solid shafts on request. Users can also choose one-legged, flanged and shaft mounted products. All models come with the same space-saving housing and can be easily integrated. While motors used in cranes and carts often run around the clock, some loading facilities may be in standby at certain times. The drive's manufacturing standards ensure that it can resume normal operation, even after such long periods of standby, without any special maintenance. In addition, all models are also available in an explosion-proof (ATEX) version if required.
