Energy efficiency era | Energy efficiency rating questions
In recent years, energy efficiency has been increasingly valued by the public, and new energy-saving standards are constantly being improved and customized. Our pursuit of higher efficiency will never end. The new international energy efficiency standard IEC61800-9 is coming to science.
In March 2017, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) issued a new product standard for frequency converters, IEC61800-9, which is an eco-design for electric drive systems, motor starters, power electronics and their drive applications. Standard, which focuses on the energy efficiency of frequency converters and drive motor systems.
The bulk of the IEC61800-9 (Parts 1 and 2) is based on the European standard EN50598 (Parts 1 and 2), which came into effect in 2014. We hope that this IEC standard will become EN61800-9 in Europe and replace the existing EN50598. The difference between these two standards is mainly in covering different grid voltages and frequencies (50Hz/60Hz) around the world.
The new international energy efficiency standard – IEC61800-9 will increase the global attention to the efficiency of the frequency converter, these important Xiaodan must be given to everyone:
A way to configure an extended product
Classification of frequency converters and motor drive systems
Inverter and motor drive system efficiency at partial load
Let's take a closer look at the new international energy efficiency standard IEC61800-9.

Expanding products is a key concept for energy optimization at the system level. It combines the efficiency (or loss) of the motor system with the efficiency of the drive unit.
If you don't practice fake tricks, the following examples will give you an instant idea of how to expand your product.
In the picture below, we have a water pump that is driven by a motor controlled by a frequency converter. Translating this into the IEC61800-9 language means that the pump is driven, the motor and the frequency converter are the electric drive system, and the frequency converter is a complete drive module (CDM).
We can understand the efficiency of the application through the three components of the pump, motor and inverter at partial load. We can summarize the efficiency at different working points and calculate the energy efficiency index - the system's EEI. The energy efficiency index is a complete system efficiency indicator. Based on the defined load time curve, we can select the most efficient inverter-motor-drive device combination and compare the system and perform optimization at the system level.
