Electric toothbrush motor types

As a common personal care tool, one of the core technologies of electric toothbrushes is the built-in motor. The motor provides vibration or rotation power for the electric toothbrush, helping users to clean teeth efficiently and improve oral health. The type, design and performance of the motor used in the electric toothbrush directly affect the cleaning effect, user experience and life of the product.

1. Types of electric toothbrush motors

Electric toothbrushes mainly use two types of motors: DC motors and sonic motors. Each has its own characteristics and is suitable for different types of electric toothbrushes.

DC motor:

Principle: The DC motor drives the rotor to rotate through electrical energy, thereby driving the brush head to rotate or vibrate. This type of motor has a relatively simple structure and low production cost, and is often used in entry-level electric toothbrushes.

Features: The DC motor has a relatively low speed, but it has strong power and is suitable for rotary electric toothbrushes. Rotary electric toothbrushes clean teeth by quickly rotating the brush head, and the brushing force is large, which is suitable for people with healthy teeth.

Sonic motor:

Principle: The sonic motor uses the force of the magnetic field to make the brush head vibrate at high speed. When the coil in the motor is energized, a magnetic field is generated, causing the brush head to vibrate at an extremely high frequency, reaching the level of sonic vibration. This type of motor is usually used in high-end sonic electric toothbrushes.

Features: The magnetic levitation motor has a high vibration frequency, usually up to 30,000 to 40,000 vibrations per minute, which can more efficiently vibrate the water flow and toothpaste foam on the surface of the teeth, and deeply clean the gaps between the teeth. Compared with DC motors, magnetic levitation motors are quieter, smaller in size, and have lower energy consumption.
