1 axle equipped with direct drive motor

The direct drive motor is equivalent to the engine. The engine drives the tire to move. There are certain transition parts (transmission, drive shaft, etc.) in the middle, and the direct drive motor is connected with the traditional axle. Its main features: the axle is integrated with the motor, gearbox, drive shaft, differential, all of these large pieces are directly integrated in the middle of the axle.

The ZF wheel-side electric drive bridge is a typical representative: two drive motors are arranged on both sides of the axle, and the wheel is driven by the deceleration and torque-increasing through the side reducer and the wheel reducer.

From the above introduction, the drive motor must be combined with the axle to play its role. The Dongfeng Canna axle of the direct drive motor is developed based on the traditional axle principle, retaining the advantages of the traditional axle. The ZF wheel side electric drive bridge and the Tate electromechanical wheel hub motor are equipped with axles, and the advantages of the traditional axles are no longer seen.

Direct drive motors, wheel motors, and hub motors are trilogy, but there is no progressive relationship between them. In theory, it may be said that the distribution of motors (in-wheel motors) is the ultimate goal of pure electric vehicles. From an engineering point of view, it seems that this is not the case.
