Application in the drive system for cleaning and maintenance of the cable car
In 2011, a 265-meter skyscraper was built on Manhattan Island not far from the Brooklyn Bridge. Named after the famous architect, now known as "New York by Gehry," the building is the tallest residential building in the world, with a corrugated stainless steel panel that wraps the entire exterior surface, with curved surfaces that change with daylight. Produced a vagaries of visual effects. However, this appearance poses a great challenge for the development of suitable cleaning and maintenance cables, which must be able to reach every corner of the wavy surface.
Special cable car design focused on the luxurious exterior – Góndolas in Design, S.L., and Nord Drive have developed a suitable custom solution. Considering that it is a special custom system, it is more important to ensure that the system does not fail for many years. Due to the large size of the building, the cable car will be used in addition to bad weather.
Smooth, precise and reliable – The drive solution requires high-power geared motors and frequency converters: for lifting, lowering and turning the cable car, so the weight of the telescopic arm must be adequately supported and all movements are precisely controlled. Excellent product and service quality and global technical support for drives are essential and they are key to the safe operation of the cable car.
application solution
The building's cable car solution consists of a telescopic arm, a special guiding system along the outer surface and a multi-stage telescopic pod that is used to reach the inner curved surface of the building. Nord Drive technology lifts and rotates the pod, balances its weight and drives the telescopic unit.
Smooth movement up and down – Nord's brake motor uses a helical gear bevel gearbox to rotate the cable drum of the cable car to lift the cable car. SK 500E frequency conversion is used to ensure the smooth start and stop of the cable car. When using a telescopic boom, the frequency converter also ensures that the cable car is in a predetermined position relative to the outer surface of the building.
Balanced – The balancing mechanism is very important to the system.
Without it, the overall equipment must be stronger, heavier and more expensive. When the telescopic arm expands and contracts, the helical bevel gear motor drives the counterweight to move back and forth. Another SK 500E drive uses an acceleration ramp to move the counterweight mass.
Reach all corners – Two coaxial geared motors engage a ring to rotate the entire unit, allowing the pod to reach all sides and surface areas of the building. In this installation phase, another SK 500E frequency converter is used to support the soft start and stop motion of the cable car and to adjust the speed.
Focus on customers
Góndolas in Design, S.L., develops and manufactures custom maintenance and cleaning equipment for exterior surfaces of buildings, GinD equipment that meets the highest standards of quality and safety, and is widely used in many countries including North America, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia. Madrid
The head office is known for its very innovative cable car design, which is designed to meet the unique requirements of buildings of different styles.
Focus on the project
Nord Drive technology enables the lifting, turning and precise positioning of the cable car system, and the cable car system is used to clean New York
The outer surface of the Gehry skyscraper. In addition, the drive solution provides
■ Geared motors are 24% more radial than other major competitors.
■ The drive is 25% more overload than most other brands.
