Stepper motor selection requires scientific calculation to select the appropriate motor. In addition to paying attention to flange size, number of phases, motor length, shaft length, and number of outgoing wires, torque, current, etc. should also be calculated to determine the matching driver. First, the choice of stepper motor torque.
The holding torque of a stepper motor is similar to the "power" of a conventional motor. Of course, there are also essential differences. The physical structure of a stepper motor is completely different from that of an AC and DC motor, and the output power of the motor is variable. In general, which type of motor is chosen based on the torque required (that is, the torque of the driven object). For example, if the torque is below 0.6NM, choose 28, 35, 42 (the body diameter or squareness of the motor, unit: mm; if the torque is greater than 0.6nm, choose 57 motor. Many customers pay little attention to the choice of the number of phases of the stepper motor, and most of them buy them casually. In fact, motors with different phase numbers work differently. Special consideration should also be given to the speed of the motor. Because the output torque of the motor is inversely proportional to the rotational speed. Of course, some working conditions require high-speed motors, so it is necessary to measure the coil resistance, inductance and other indicators of the stepper motor. Selecting a motor with a smaller inductance as a high-speed motor can obtain a larger output torque. On the contrary, when low speed and high torque are required, it is best to choose an inductance with a dozen or tens of MH and a larger resistance.
4. Selection of no-load starting frequency of stepper motor.
The no-load starting frequency of the stepper motor is usually called "no-load starting frequency". This is a more important indicator for selecting a motor. If it is required to start and stop frequently in an instant, and the speed is around 1000 rpm (or higher), "acceleration start" is usually required. If you need to start directly to achieve high-speed operation, it is best to choose a reactive or permanent magnet motor. The "idle frequency" of these motors is relatively high.
